Our adoption fee is $30.00 and half price discount for those over 55 years of age. The animal is required to be fixed within 60 days of adoption, as required by city ordinance. If a specific type of animal is not available at the time, a special request can be entered into our “Pets Wanted” binder. This binder is maintained to enable contact with a potential adopter when an animal matching the request becomes available at the shelter. DEC investigators determined that the animal visible on the trail cam footage was actually a large cat, not a mountain lion. Our mission is to build a community of people and organizations working together to save today’s and prevent tomorrow’s, abused, neglected, and homeless animals. A local newspaper,Hudson Valley Post, shared the photo with the DEC. The agency confirmed that the image did show a mountain lion. However, they were unable to confirm the location.

One of the reasons different animals get mistaken for mountain lions is because their actual size can be hard to picture. Mountain lions are also called pumas, panthers, and cougars.
These amazing animals are not native to New York. Some believe the state has previously released mountain lions into the wild to reign in an out-of-control deer population. There are claims that some mountain lion sightings include animals with neck collars or ear tags.
Rescue often instantly brings to mind sad and unfortunate situations, and yes they do exist. Most times this is the very reason why animals come into shelters.
