If you don’t have a pressure-balanced valve or digital shower controller, you may have to reduce the water pressure in your entire home. Firstly, if you have an adjustable reduction valve on your main water supply, you can adjust it to reduce the overall pressure in the house. This can usually be done by finding the pressure regulator or pressure reducing valve located near the water meter and testing it with a pressure gauge. Is water pressure controlled by the shower head?

If you have a pressure of between 40 and 70 psi then the water pressure is good. If there is no pressure gauge in your plumbing you will need to measure the water pressure in your house yourself. Adjust the water level
A waterlogged pressure tank is caused by a raptured bladder/diaphragm. The water demand during peak hours in your house and in the neighborhood will considerably lower the water pressure in your house unless you are using water from a well. Low water pressure in the house could be affecting one fixture or the entire house. Whenever you suspect that the water pressure in your house is insufficient, start by investigating if the problem is with one fixture, or all of them.
Your heater has to work more if plenty of water is pouring out due to the high pressure. Installing a regulator reduces waste as well as the amount of energy needed to heat up the water. Leaving high water pressure unaddressed is bad for your home because it can cause significant damage.
Check for Running Water
Go to your main water line and look for the main shutoff valve. If you have a water meter, you may also see the regulator located close to that. If your water pressure is too high, you’ll need to reduce the flow from the supply pipe of the water main. To do this, you’ll need to shut off the water supply to your home by closing the valve on the main shutoff . Then use a pipe wrench to loosen the nut connecting the flexible copper pipe to the main line.
Finally, if you are installing a new shower, you will want to ensure that it is suitable for your incoming water pressure. If the flow rate is over-restricted because of this, it can cause a decrease in performance, so it is important to make sure the flow rate is suitable before installation. Standard shower heads are usually 9 – 12 litres per minute, but can provide a higher flow rate up to 25 litres per minute. The flow rate can also be affected by the water pressure available in your home, so if the pressure is lower, the flow rate of the shower will be lower. Once you’ve located your water regulator, use your flat head screwdriver to turn the pressure clockwise.
If the water pressure is too high, that is the part that would fail. Can you hear a vibrating/whining noise coming from your pipes when a faucet is turned on or an appliance like washing machine is running? If the answer is in the affirmative then you have high water pressure in your house.
If your toilet type has no clip in the chain, use a wire cutter to cut it. Ensure the overflow valve is always at least one inch under the critical level threshold. A clip is connected to this cup, and you can use it to modify the water level inside the tank. In a clockwise motion, turn the screw above the fill valve. Some people choose to ignore it, but taking many pushes wastes a large amount of clean water (a single toilet push requires 1.6 gallons!).
Water pressure in your home is typically controlled by the main house water supply and not by the shower head alone. Depending on the type of showerhead you have, it can be designed to maximize the existing water pressure, or slow it down for a gentler shower. If you don't have a hose bib, an alternate place to test your water pressure is at your washing machine's cold water supply faucet. Shut off the cold water at the faucet behind the washing machine, and then disconnect the hose from the faucet.
